Engaged by Ventia Boral Amey Joint Venture, Geleon were responsible for coordinating and undertaking the pavement investigations, as well as providing detailed design and engineering services for rehabilitation of the pavement on the Mt Lindesay Highway between Ironbark Gardens and Tullamore Way at Gleneagle, north of Beaudesert. The project was being undertaken as part of the Road Asset Management Contract (RAMC) for the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) South Coast Region.

Adopting a mechanistic design procedure for the pavement design process using CIRCLY Pro (Version 6.0), three rehabilitation treatments were identified as suitable for investigation based on the guidance provided in TMR's Pavement Design Supplement and Pavement Rehabilitation Manual, which included:

-
Option 1 - Asphalt over granular pavement
-
Option 2 - Full depth asphalt pavement using high modulus asphalt (EME2)
-
Option 3 - Cementitiously modified base with sprayed seal or asphalt surfacing.

A preferred option was selected based on cost and constructability factors with construction of the rehabilitated pavement completed in July 2019.
